Don Wilmer Salazar is 42 years old and lives in a rural community called Cofradía in the province of Loja in southern Ecuador
He has four children – three of them live with their mother but one lives with him and helps with the business.
Don Wilmer is a fish farmer, specialising in keeping trout. He has various pools where the fish are kept. He looks after the pools and feeds the fish in the mornings and in the afternoons works as a cobbler. Don Wilmer has been fish farming for the past 10 years or so. He started with just 400 small fish and over time has built up the numbers and he has 5 fish pools now for keeping trout. Don Wilmer sells the catch in the markets in the towns of Amaluza and Cariamanga. He estimates that he earns a profit of around $380 per month from selling the fish. He requested a loan to finance improvements to the fish pools.
As Euroflex FIBC Limited are a supplier of bags into the fish farming market, Don Wilmer’s project is a good match for us. We are supporting him via LeadWithCare.org – check out their website, lots of small businesses looking for a small contribution to change their lives.
