When using FIBC Bulk Bags you need to carry out the following safety checks before using the bag.

Unused bulk bags should be supplied, ready to use. The following checks should be carried out before using the FIBC.

1.It is the correct style for your requirements.

2.If a discharge spout is present, that it is securely tied.

3.Current type test certification is quoted on the label (from a recognised test house).

4.The Safe Working Load (SWL) is correct.

5.The Safety Factory (SF) is correct.

6.That there is no visible damage to the bag.

Used bulk bags should be supplied, ready to use. The following checks should be carried out before using the FIBC.

1.All the above

2.Is there any abrasion on the the lifting loops and body of the bag?

3.Are there any cuts or contusions on the bag?

4.Are there any signs of Ultraviolet degradation or chemical damage?

5.Is the bag safe to use, ie what has been prior filled in the bag?

If there are any of the above present on the bag, it must not be used as these could/will affect the strength and performance of the FIBC.

Repair to bulk bags should be avoided. However, repairs can be carried out the following must be considered.

1.Meet the label requirements (ie SWL and SF)

2.The material of construction

3.The type and area of the damage

4.The age of the FIBC

5.The condition the bag will be subjected to when re-used

6.The location of the damage
